Welcome to Vintnerd!

We’re Melissa and Erin and this is Vintnerd!

We’ve been friends since elementary school, we grew up down the street from each other and now maintain a long distance best friendship. During the pandemic we decided to take a few wine classes, which quickly snowballed into a full-blown obsession that resulted in Vintnerd. We kept teaching our friends about wine and decided we wanted to take the show on the road.

When we were studying wine, we got tired of old, white men dominating the wine world and telling us what we should like (did you know that entire industry’s rating scale is based off the tastes of ONE GUY?!?). We wanted to create a space where anyone could learn how to speak the language of wine, break down the bullshit, and let you know how to buy and drink what you like. We’re not here to tell you what to drink, though we’re brimming with suggestion, but to empower you to find what you REALLY like, and not just drinking what you already know.

The Grand Cru

We have a free weekly newsletter + premium paid content. We refer to our paid subscribers as the Grand Cru and we love to share recs, talk about food and drink, and teach more about wine.

Why should you pay?

First of all, you don’t have to! Please enjoy the newsletter for free! Inclusivity is important to us and we recognize that the wine world is hard to access without $$$. So we have really worked hard to build a quality product that is absolutely free, no strings attached. Anyone who is subscribed for free can also leave comments and join the conversation.

We both work full time outside of the wine industry, and paid subscriptions help us keep this going by helping pay for trainings, Canva, platforms, classes, events etc. We’re a newer company but we have big plans and that takes money. So we truly appreciate anyone who pays to subscribe. This empowers us to build Vintnerd in a way that best serves our readers.

We create weekly content for our paid subscribers in addition to the newsletter. This content is about wine and drinks, as well as travel, food, music, pop culture, activism, and whatever the hell else we want.

The Girls, Gays, and Theys

We are a woman, POC, queer owned company. This is a community safe for everyone. Our policy is always to err on the side of the marginalized. If that doesn’t sit well with you, then this is not the community for you.
